Traffic is now flowing at the washed away section of the Great East Road at Kankumba Stream in the Sinjela area following the opening of a diversion, easing movement for motorists. The diversion is allowing controlled passage of vehicles as works continue on the affected bridge section.

The diversion was completed through the joint efforts of the Road Development Agency and the Zambia National Service, helping to reduce congestion while permanent works are progressing.

Installation of the Acrow Bridge is ongoing and has reached an advanced stage. The bridge is expected to be completed and opened to traffic by close of today, Sunday, 28th December 2025, which will restore smooth movement for bigger and heavy vehicles along the Great East Road.
